About the Derby:
Anchorage’s largest salmon derby, the Slam’n Salm’n King Derby, is scheduled for June 14-22 at Ship Creek. Anglers will have the opportunity to cast a line to help others, while also fishing for a chance to win exciting prizes.

Proceeds from this year’s derby will support Alaskan non-profit organizations.

The grand prize is valued at over $6,000 and includes a authentic Alaska gold nugget + $1,000 cash.

Local anglers and out-of-state visitors are eligible to participate in the Derby. To participate, a derby ticket must be purchased prior to fishing. Tickets will be available at the Derby Headquarters at The Bait Shack located at 212 W. Whitney Road.

After catching a King, the angler must bring their catch to Derby Headquarters for official weigh-in.

The Derby categories are Men, Women, Military and Youth classes. Youth anglers will not need a Derby ticket; they should bring their fish to Derby Headquarters for official weigh-in.

Military service members may enter two classes by purchasing two tickets in both the military class as well as the Men or Women’s class. Each fish caught can only be entered into one category.

In addition to the Grand Prize, awards and prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each fishing class.
